4 days Rwenzori Mountains National Park Safari is an amazing 4 days /3 nights tour to Rwenzori Mountains National Park, this safari offers you a site of the iconic wildlife and bird viewing during hiking.

Rwenzori Mountains National Park is located in southwestern Uganda on the east side of the western (Albertine) African rift valley. It lies along Uganda’s border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and borders the DRC’s Virunga National Park. 

Rwenzori Mountains National Park was established in 1991. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994 because of its outstanding natural beauty.

Almost 1,000 km2 (386 sq mi) in size, the park has Africa’s third highest mountain peak and many waterfalls, lakes, and glaciers. The park is known for its beautiful plant life.

The park comprises most of the centre and eastern half of the Rwenzori Mountains. The Rwenzori Mountain is the highest mountain range in the whole of Africa with Africa’s third highest mountain peak, 6 glacial peaks: Mount Speke, Mount Stanley, Mount Gessi, Mount Emin Pasha, Mount Luigi da Savoia as well as Mount Baker.  The park has glaciers, snowfields, waterfalls, and lakes and is one of Africa’s most beautiful mountain areas.

The national park hosts 70 mammals and 217 bird species including 19 Albertine Rift endemics, as well as some of the world’s rarest vegetation

The Rwenzoris are a world-class hiking and mountaineering destination. 

The 4 days safari incorporates magical wildlife and bird viewing during the exciting hiking.

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kasese town

Day 2: Rwenzori hiking

Day 3: Rwenzoring hiking

Day 4: Return from the hike and Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe Airport.

4 Days Rwenzori hiking Safari in details 

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kasese town.

Your 4 days Rwenzori tour starts early in the morning (at around 6.00 am) to enable you to catch up with the day’s major activity. After breakfast, you will be met by our guide who will brief you about the 4 days Rwenzori hiking then after,start your journey with a drive from Kampala towards the west but has a remarkable and memorable stop at the Equator for photoshoots and Mbarara City for Lunch.

After this exciting experience, continue with your journey to scenic Queen Elizabeth National Park fronted by the magnificent Rwenzori Mountains or Mountains of the Moon for much of your journey. Enroute Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will be highly rewarded with wonderful views of a range of wild animals including Leopards, gigantic Elephants, Hogs, Lions, Buffaloes, Duikers, Hyenas, and many antelopes as we proceed and arrive to kasese town late evening for an overnight.

Day 2 : Start the journey of Rwenzori Hiking

Early morning(6:00 am) after breakfast we head to the Rwenzori trekking hostel, The trek starts from the hostel through the community where we observe the local way of farming and meeting local poeple and we have got important medicinal plants and it will take 1.5 hours (2.2km) to the UWA gate where we pay our park fees. we proceed to our next destination  which is SINE camp (2598m above  sea level)through the tropical forest zone (we shall see mammals like Rwenzori red duikers,rock harks etc)primates like blue monkeys ,black and white collabus monkeys etc, wild chimpanzees,or we meet their droppings or hear their sound from a distance ,various species of birds some of which we can meet on the way and others we recognize  them by their sounds .this zone has also got important medicinal trees and plants and non medicinal. The terrain for the first 1 to 2 hours its gentle sloping then we start hiking up the steep section for 2.5 to 3hours upto the lunch sport for a lunch break (30min) then it takes us 1 hr to Sine camp for our first night where we have Enocks falls for a swim or photos

Day 3: We continue on hiking through the tropical forest.

After breakfast we continue  in the tropical forest for about 30min then we start a mixture  of bamboo and trees then we go up for 30min  then we out of the tropical  rain forest and join pure bamboo zone it will take 1hour to get past the bamboo zone to join the heather zone ,we continue  upto Kalalama camp(3127m)then we have a break for 15min .at this point we have 2 options we can go  changora where we meet the giant lobelia garden in 1:20min then have lunch then come back the same way to kalama in 1hr then we head to SAMALILA camp for our 2nd night in 1:30hrs…we can view kilembe valley ,queen  Elizabeth  Np and lake George, then peaks like Mutinda peak etc

Option 2..from sine to kalalama then to samalila then we can go kyalvula lobelia garden in 1:30mins come back the same way then we proceed  to samalila falls.

Over night at SAMALILA Camp

Meal Plan: – Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 4: Proceed down and Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe International Airport.

After breakfast we proceed down  in the heather zone for 30min then we join the bamboo zone in 40min to get out the bamboo zone back to the tropical forest zone then move for 30min to Forest view camp, it’s the terrain steep down we have a break then move for 1:30hr to Nyamwamba hurt its relatively  flat for 40mins then we move gentle flat upto the UWA gate then we sign out …proceed for 1hr back to the RTS hostels. Drive back to Kampala/Entebbe arriving late around 7:00pm.

NOTE. Due to the weather changes we expect you to have; a sleeping bag,  rain coat, rain pant, warm jackets, warn gloves, headstock, rubber boots(we can get these here)hiking boots, water bottles maybe and some snacks to keep you going strong.
