DAY TO DAY SAFARI PROGRAM

7 days Pearl of Africa is an amazing 7 days /6 nights tour to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable forest and lake Mburo park.  This safari offers you a site of the iconic Big Five viewing during game drives, bird watching & cultural adventure! in the southwest of Uganda.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most popular park, named after the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth II, after her visit to the park in 1952. The park is situated on the floor of the Albertine rift valley in a fertile, equatorial area and has beautiful scenery. This impressive park features a fabulously diverse landscape: grassy savannah plains, tropical rainforests, moist acacia woodlands, natural volcanic crater lakes, freshwater lakes, and a variety of wetland habitats. As a result, it has one of the highest biodiversity ratings of any nature reserve in the world, including 95 mammal species and over 610 bird species.

This park is famous for its tree-climbing lions but also hosts savannah Lions, Elephants, Buffalos, Leopards, Hippos, Crocodiles, Giant forest hogs, and plenty of antelope species.

The 7 days safari incorporates magical wildlife viewing and the recreational boat cruise along with the 45km long Kazinga Chanel to view some of the highest concentrations of hippos in the world. This safari trip also offers Gorilla and Chimpanzee tracking safari, in the jungle-filled Kyambura gorge, a beautiful slice of green in the savannah with a habituated troop of chimpanzees.

Day 1: Transfer from Entebbe airport / Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 2: Do Morning game drive & Afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel 

Day 3: Morning game drive/Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura gorge & Transfer to Bwindi Forest

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in the morning and nature walk in the afternoon.

Day 5: Tranfer to Lake Mburo park en route Mbarara.

Day 6: Guided walk and wildlife viewing in Lake Mburo.

Day 7: Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe airport.

7 Days Pearl of Africa Safari in details 

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After an early morning breakfast at your place of stay in Kampala, you will be picked up by your tour guide at 6:30am and embark on 387km or 6-7 hours’ drive to Queen Elizabeth National park, located in Western Uganda. 

We will continue on the drive and make a stop over in Fort Portal city for lunch and brief rest. While here we can have a visit to Tooro kingdom(optional) one of Uganda’s oldest kingdoms. 

We continue on the drive to arrive in Queen Elizabeth National Park through Kasese town and enjoy beautiful view of tea plantations of southwestern Uganda and the Rwenzori Mountains, stop over at the equator crossing line in Queen Elizabeth park there after we continue on drive. Upon arrival, we will check in at the Lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Kazinga Channel boat Cruise.

After breakfast at around 7.00 am, we will embark on a 3-4 hours game drive encounter in the scenic savannah plains of Kasenyi area during which you will expect to see a range of wild games such as Lions, Elephants, Buffalos, Waterbucks, Uganda kobs, Spotted hyenas, Leopards, Waterbucks, Bushbucks, Warthogs, Giant forest hogs and many others.

The other sights include those of birds such as Grey crown cranes, Red-throated spurfowl, Yellow throated longclaw, Palm-nut vulture, African white-backed vulture, Hooded vulture, Ruppell’s griffon vulture, Brown snake eagle, Lappet-faced vulture, Wahlberg’s eagle, Bateleur, Martial eagle, Grey kestrel, Long-created eagle, African crake, Black-bellied bustard, Temminck’s courser, Crowned plover, Senegal plover and African wattled plover among others.

After the game drive, we will connect to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, we drive to Mweya Jetty for a boat cruise commencing at 2pm. This 2-hour boat trip on the 40 Kazinga Channel which connects Lakes George and Edward offers an opportunity to view some highest concentration of hippos in the world. You will also be fascinated by the large numbers of crocodiles, and Elephants, buffalos on the shore along with numerous waterbirds including Saddle bellied stork, Pink-backed pelicans, Black-headed gonolek, Yellow-billed stork, White-billed stork, African jacana, African fish eagle and White-faced Whistling duck. Retreat from the activity and do a game drive along the channel track as you connect to the lodge for overnight.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Chimpanzee Trekking in Kyambura Gorge & Transfer to Bwindi Park

We will wake up for breakfast at around 7.00 am after which we will connect to the park to do another game drive to explore more game and even spot those that you might have missed the previous day and them embark on the transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Onour way, we shall embark on a 2-3 hour search for tree climbing lions and  chimpanzee tracking encounter in Kyambura gorge which starts at 8.00am. This thrilling encounter involves sloping down a gorge of 100m deep with sights of magical lush mature tropical forest thriving below sea level. Hiking the gorge’s steep slopes in search of chimps is a challenging task but the whole encounter to go beyond the chimps. You will see several other primates including Black-and-white colobus monkeys, Vervet monkeys, Red-tailed monkeys and Olive baboons along with numerous bird species such as Great blue turaco, Black-and-white casqued hornbills, Black bee-eaters and Blue bellied kingfishers and many others reside in the gorge.

The eventual encounter with the chimpanzees as they munch fruits, make pant hooting calls, socialize, patrol, copulate and roll themselves in tree branches derive an exciting memory that will last for a life time. After chimpanzee tracking embark on the transfer to Bwindi Park

Day 4Gorilla tracking in the thick forest

After early morning breakfast at around 6.00 am, we set out for a briefing at the park offices where we are allocated a gorilla family to trek and given tips in preparation for a close encounter with the gentle giants. The mountain gorillas in Uganda are part of a worldwide population of just 1063 individuals. The gorillas we are permitted to visit belong to one of 20 family groups, habituated for gorilla trekking.

After the briefing, we’ll undertake a challenging trek through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the company of an armed expert ranger guide. It may take 2-8 hours of pushing through vegetation before we set our eyes on a colossal dominant Silverback male and his group.

You will probably remember today for the rest of your life as we spend a full hour in the company of a family of Mountain gorillas! Spending time with and photographing these gentle, peaceful, and shy gorillas in the magical Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is indeed a unique, breathtaking, inspiring, and thrilling lifetime memorable adventure that leaves you desiring to have it again. 

After the gorilla encounter, we’ll retire from the activity for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 5Transfer back to Lake Mburo Park en route Mbarara

After your breakfast embark on the transfer to Lake Mburo National Park via Mbarara in Igongo Cultural Center for lunch (Traditional dishes) but also you will visit the cultural museum here and embark on your drive to Lake Mburo. On arrival, check in to your hotel room for refreshment. Your will have an evening walk through the park for wildlife and bird watching.

Day 6: Guided walk and night game drive in Lake Mburo park.

Lake Mburo National Park is one of the few parks in Uganda where you can
continue watching wildlife after the sun has set. A night game drive (usually 2-3 hours) is an exciting experience and unusual twist on your regular game drives, allowing you to search for a variety of animals that you would not easily see during the day, such as bush pigs, genet cats and white-tailed mongoose. But also the elusive leopards and spotted hyenas are best to be seen at night. And with some luck you will be able to spot the one male lion in the park who resides down by Lake Mburo.

Day 7Transfer back to Kampala / Entebbe Airport.

After your breakfast embark on the transfer to Kampala via Masaka. on your drive to Kampala, we shall have a stop over at the Equator crossing line for photo shoot and later continue  on our journey. On arrival in Kampala by 3.00 pm local time you immediately embark on a mini famous Kampala drive-through tour which makes the end of your 7 days Uganda tour.
