3 Days Bwindi Safari in details

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

After an early morning breakfast at your place of stay in Kampala, you will be picked up by your tour guide at 6:30am and embark on 540km or 6-7 hours’ drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National park, located in Western Uganda. We will make a stop at the Equator at Kayabwe (about 77km from Kampala) for photo shoots with one leg in the southern hemisphere and the other in the northern hemisphere. You can also perform water experiments to justify the geographical divide between the two hemispheres.

There are craft centers at the site where you can get yourself a souvenir as remembrance of your safari in Uganda. We will continue on the drive and make another stop at Igongo Cultural Center 12km to Mbarara town for lunch. Here, you’re served organically grown and freshly prepared African cuisine at the famous Kahwa Kanuzire restaurant literally translated as it’s finished when it is still sweet.

We continue on the drive to arrive in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through Mbarara and enjoy beautiful view of tea plantations of southwestern Uganda and the land scapes. Upon arrival, we will check in at the Lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla tracking in the thick forest

After early morning breakfast at around 6.00 am, we set out for a briefing at the park offices where we are allocated a gorilla family to trek and given tips in preparation for a close encounter with the gentle giants. The mountain gorillas in Uganda are part of a worldwide population of just 1063 individuals. The gorillas we are permitted to visit belong to one of 20 family groups, habituated for gorilla trekking.

After the briefing, we’ll undertake a challenging trek through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the company of an armed expert ranger guide. It may take 2-8 hours of pushing through vegetation before we set our eyes on a colossal dominant Silverback male and his group.

You will probably remember today for the rest of your life as we spend a full hour in the company of a family of Mountain gorillas! Spending time with and photographing these gentle, peaceful, and shy gorillas in the magical Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is indeed a unique, breathtaking, inspiring, and thrilling lifetime memorable adventure that leaves you desiring to have it again.

After the gorilla encounter, we’ll retire from the activity for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
